{"id":31469,"date":"2024-11-30T17:03:03","date_gmt":"2024-11-30T16:03:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/en\/?p=20641"},"modified":"2025-09-25T13:19:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T12:19:20","slug":"design-miami-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/en\/news\/design-miami-3\/","title":{"rendered":"DESIGN MIAMI."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For this 20th edition of DESIGN MIAMI, <strong>GALERIE PATRICK SEGUIN<\/strong> is showing a selection of furniture and lighting designed by <strong>JEAN ROY\u00c8RE<\/strong> from the late 1940s to the early 1960s.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set1-1.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20642\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set1-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jean Roy\u00e8re approached his work with great freedom. He designed pieces that were daring and refined, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. Inspired by the armillary spheres of the 16th century, the \u201cSphere\u201d table is a perfect example of this approach. Four spherical feet in gold metal support a rectangular marble top, giving an impression of levitation. It was designed in 1939 and exhibited that same year at the Salon des Artistes D\u00e9corateurs in Paris; this model was made for a private commission around 1950.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20643\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"827\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As with the \u201cSphere\u201d table, the pair of \u201cAuxerre\u201d chairs reflects the extraordinary sense of proportion and volume that Roy\u00e8re demonstrated throughout his career. This model features armrests subtly incorporated into an extension of its wrap-around backrest. Its sinusoidal lines also contrast with the rectangularity of the nest of tables, whose gold patinated metal legs support a delicate, partially mirrored glass top. The \u201cDents Grecques\u201d pattern formed by the legs, skillfully worked into the table design, contributes to its air of refinement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/applique-bouquet-10-bras-1.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20644\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/applique-bouquet-10-bras-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The names of Jean Roy\u00e8re\u2019s creations often betray their organic and vegetal inspirations \u2013 for example the \u201cBouquet\u201d lights, wall- or ceiling-mounted, are composed of metal \u2018branches\u2019, each of which \u2018blossoms\u2019 into a lampshade. Beneath the \u201cBouquet\u201d hanging light, the console table in black-stained oak with its openwork top filters the light, projecting a subtle play of shadows.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set3-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20645\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-bouquet-ceiling-lamp2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20646\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-bouquet-ceiling-lamp2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"884\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The installation is completed by an extremely elegant semi-circular dressing table made in 1962 for a private commission, adorned with three illuminated mirrors and accompanied by a \u201cGazelle\u201d stool, whose sycamore legs resemble the animal\u2019s horns.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-20647\" src=\"https:\/\/www.patrickseguin.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/jean-royere-set2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>DESIGN MIAMI.<\/strong><br \/>\nDecember 3-8, 2024<br \/>\nConvention Center Drive &amp; 19th Street<br \/>\nMiami Beach, Florida, USA<br \/>\nBooth G 01<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For this 20th edition of DESIGN MIAMI, GALERIE PATRICK SEGUIN is showing a selection of furniture and lighting designed by JEAN ROY\u00c8RE from the late 1940s to the early 1960s.
