In 1956, Jean Prouvé was commissioned to build a school in Villejuif of lightweight construction that could be made quickly and that could be taken down and reassembled as necessary. Based on earlier studies and ongoing research, Jean Prouvé reinterpreted the asymmetrically propped structure, mixing in new products. Economic but elegant and functional, the Villejuif school is a magnificent demonstration of the potential offered by mass-production.
