In 1956, Jean Prouvé was commissioned to design a school campus in Villejuif, requiring a construction that could be built quickly, was lightweight, and able if necessary to be demounted and rebuilt. Based on earlier studies and ongoing research, Jean Prouvé revisited his asymmetric strut structure, combining it with new components. Economical, elegant and functional, the Villejuif school is a masterful demonstration of the possibilities for mass production in demountable architecture.
